Meet the Mum Behind SlumbaPak
Melissa Angus, an adventurous Australian mother of two, founded SlumbaPak in 2024 to make family travel more comfortable, safe, and joyful. Having explored over 60 countries with her children, Melissa knows firsthand the challenges of long-haul flights, cramped seats, restless kids, and germ-ridden surfaces. Her passion for travel and family inspired her to create innovative, kid-focused solutions that transform every journey into an adventure.
Partnering with award-winning industrial designer Dr. Tristan Schultz and drawing insights from occupational therapists and ergonomists, Melissa developed SlumbaPak —patented, airline-compliant accessories that turn standard economy seats into cozy, hygienic havens for kids and adults. Working closely with our ethical Vietnam factory, she ensures every product balances quality, affordability, and responsible manufacturing practices. The 2025 TGA People’s Choice Award, won at the Travel Goods Association Show in Las Vegas, validates SlumbaPak’s parent-driven design and industry impact.
Beyond SlumbaPak, Melissa is a dynamic entrepreneur and legal professional. In her 20s, she built a successful international translation business in the UK. As a single mom, she balanced raising her children with her career, later returning to university in her 40s to earn a law degree and pursue a Master’s in International Commercial Law. Her expertise in global trade and intellectual property fuels SlumbaPak’s growth, from concept sketches to prototypes, trade shows, and strategic partnerships for distribution and licensing.
