Flight-Friendly Design
Airline Compliance & Safety
SlumbaPak products are not child restraint systems. They are classified as personal travel comfort aids (similar to a travel pillow or blanket) by major aviation authorities.
Due to this classification, SlumbaPak does not require formal certification from the FAA, EASA, CASA, GCAA
Why SlumbaPak is Designed for Safe In-Flight Use
- No inflation required
- No attachments to the seat or aircraft
- Does not block aisles, footwells, or emergency access
- Does not interfere with seat recline, tray tables, or safety equipment
- Made from certified, non-flammable materials
- Includes dedicated seatbelt slots so the aircraft lap belt remains fully functional and properly secured
SlumbaPak is portable, sets up quickly, and folds into a compact backpack for overhead or under-seat storage.
Airline Acceptance
While SlumbaPak meets key safety and practicality standards for portable comfort aids, final use onboard is always at the discretion of the cabin crew on the day. Some airlines have specific policies on comfort devices — we recommend checking with your carrier in advance.
We are actively seeking official feedback and approvals from individual airlines to provide families with the clearest guidance possible. Several carriers already welcome similar portable comfort aids, and we hope to add more endorsements over time.
Enhanced Safety for Children
Aviation authorities and experts agree that young children benefit from remaining seated and restrained during flight. SlumbaPak encourages children to stay seated with the aircraft seatbelt properly fastened throughout the journey.
Particularly for children with special needs, SlumbaPak provides a familiar, soothing space that can help reduce anxiety and sensory overload — allowing them to settle in before boarding.
EASA Statement (Europe)

CASA Statement (Australia)
“If the travel comfort device is not intended to restrain a person (i.e., it is not designed to act as a seat belt or harness), and it is not physically installed in the aircraft (i.e. it is a portable or removable device), certification from CASA is not required.”
Rules for Safe Use

We’re committed to safety and transparency — if you have questions about your specific flight, contact your airline directly. Safe travels! ✈️
SlumbaPak is considered a personal comfort device and doesn’t require approval from aviation authorities.. However, due to the growing customer interest in enhancing in-flight comfort, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) has issued guidelines for airlines regarding the use of these products.
I'm pleased to say SlumbaPak adheres to IATA’s guidelines.
