Enhanced Safety

CASA Statement

“If the travel comfort device is not intended to restrain a person (i.e., it is not designed to act as a seat belt or harness), and it is not physically installed in the aircraft (i.e. it is a portable or removable device), certification from CASA is not required. The use of these devices will be at the discretion of the airlines.”

Rules For Using An Inflight Sleep Device

  • Inflatable inflight beds may only be used at the window seats or the middle seat between the aisles.

  • The childs head must be toward the back of their own seat.

  • Your child must also be able to fasten the seatbelt under his or her arm when using the inflight bed.

  • If your child is under two years of age, he or she must be removed from the convertible inflight bed, and secured with an infant seatbelt whenever the seatbelt sign is switched on.

  • The item must not interfere with the comfort of another passenger

  • It must not be attached to any part of the aircraft.

Airline Compliance

SlumbaPak has been designed in accordance with the IATA (International Air Transport Association) strict guidelines.

SlumbaPak, does not attach to any part of the plane and is classified as a travel comfort devise by US (FAA), European (EASA) and Australia (CASA) authorities for air travel and meets their best practices and recommendations guidelines for safety acceptance for all major airlines.

Importantly, the SlumbaPak poses no structural risk to aircraft seats and does not present any flammability or safety concerns. It requires no seat attachments or inflation and does not occupy floor space or restrict movement between seats when not in use. The footrest is securely held in place with a fastening system attached to the device, and the device includes slots for accommodating the planes seatbelt. Assembly is quick and easy, allowing it to fold into a lightweight backpack for convenient storage in overhead lockers or under the seat in front, if not being used.

Aviation safety experts agree that young children are among the most vulnerable passengers, often needing the most protection while receiving the least! In case of unforeseen turbulence, flight through air pockets or emergency landings it is unlikely that a parent will be able to safely and effectively restrain the child.

The American Academy of Paediatrics recommend that children should be restrained when seated during the whole flight. SlumbaPak promotes safety by encouraging children to stay seated with their seatbelts fastened throughout the flight.
